Dr Nicholas Baamlong
Dr Nicholas Baamlong was born in Lardang village, Quaan-Pan LGA of Plateau State on 21st September 1968. He attended T/RCM School Lardang between 1974 and1980 for his first school leaving certificate. Proceeded to St Murrumba’s’ College, Jos between 1980 and 1985 and obtained his WASC. He was admitted into Uni-Jos Medical School in 1988 and obtained his MBBS degree in 1995.
Employed as a Medical Officer at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in February 2000, Dr. Baamlong went for Postgraduate training in Family Medicine at JUTH, Jos between August 2002 and July 2007. He is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in the Faculty of Family Medicine. Dr. Baamlong was appointed Consultant Family Physician in May 2008 and became the HOD in March 2009 a position he held till his appointment as the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of the hospital on 27th September 2017.
He holds an MBA of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and had attended some Administrative and Management courses at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Topo Badagry, Lagos. Dr Baamlong had served as the Chairman, Infection Prevention and Control Committee, Charter Desk Officer of SERVICOM and member of several committees in the Hospital. He is a member of the Faculty Board of Family Medicine of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and an examiner in the college. He is a member of several professional Associations including the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) and Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON).
He is married with children and enjoys sports, travelling and reading. He is an ardent fan of Chelsea Football Club (The BLUES).
