DR BOB AGWU UKONU

Dr Bob Agwu Ukonu was born over five decades ago. He hails from Asaga in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia state. He started his Primary education in Aba and completed it at Asaga Ohafia all in Abia State. He proceeded to the Community Secondary School (formerly known as Coronata Secondary School) Asaga for his secondary education. He was among the pioneer students of the Abia University Medical School where he served as the Abia State University Medical Students’ Association (ABSUMSA) president for four years and later graduated from the Medical school in 1996. He did his Housemanship and Youth Service in University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (Formerly Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital). His outstanding performances as a Corps member, good inter personal relationship between his senior, junior colleagues and non-doctors, diligence in handling his clinical activities with respect to patient care earned him a permanent and pensionable appointment with the Hospital.

He further proceeded to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital between 2003/2004 where he obtained his fellowship in Dermatology/ Venerology with the National Postgraduate Medical College in 2009. He has a Special bias for inflammatory skin disorder, skin cancer, Bullous skin disorders, and the use of photodynamics treatment in the management of skin diseases.

He joined the University of Abuja as a Lecturer I in 2013/2014 when there was a clarion call to salvage the university of Abuja medical school. He rose to the post of a Senior lecturer in 2016 and is currently being assessed as an Associate Professor of Medicine.

Dr Bob Agwu Ukonu has held various positions at different times from his primary education as a Head Boy. He was an assistant school prefect in the secondary, medical student union president in the university, Chief Resident, Medical and Dental Consultant Chairman UATH, Deputy Chairman Medical and Advisory Committee, SERVICOM Nodal Officer, and currently, the Chairman, Medical and Advisory committee. He also served in various religious organizations. He is a National Director with the Full Gospel Business Fellowship International, the Chairman of the Marriage Counseling Committee and an ordained Evangelist with the church of God Mission Gwagwalada.

He is married to Dr Mrs Ifeanyichukwu Ojeka Ukonu and they are blessed with children. His hobbies are Politics, Sports, Building strong and healthy family relationships and reading.
