Dr. Rilwan Chiroma Muhammad has been appointed as Director, UATH Rural Eye Care at the Kwali General Hospital with a mandate to develop the centre to a high volume eye care facility among others.
In the letter conveying the appointment, a copy of which was made available to UATH Bulletin, the Head of Department of Ophthalmology, Professor Abdulkabir Ayanniyi said the appointment was also to upscale overall yearly eye care services at the Kwali General Hospital and that the Director was free to collaborate with relevant stakeholders in the attainment of the objectives.
The Kwali General Hospital is a University of Abuja Teaching Hospital rural facility for Postgraduate Fellowship training in relevant medical specialties. In the last quarter of 2018, the Department of Ophthalmology commenced eye care services at Kwali General Hospital as step towards meeting the Post graduate Medical College accreditation requirements and to reduce the burden of eye conditions of people living in the area.
