A six-man Procurement Planning Committee, PPC, has been inaugurated by the Management of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital. The Committee is among others to plan the procurement activities of the hospital for each financial year. This includes, identifying the goods, works and services required at a given financial year; carrying out appropriate market and financial surveys; aggregating procurement needs to obtain economies of scale and reduce procurement cost as well as prescribing appropriate procurement method.
Inaugurating the Committee, the Chief Medical Director, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Prof. Bissallah Ekele commended the initiative, which he admitted was capable of driving “our procurement process through economy of scale and at a reduced cost possible.” The Chief Medical Director who is also the Chairman of the Committee said with the caliber of persons in the Committee, he was optimistic that the hospital would achieve more with the meager fund at its disposal.
Earlier, Head of Procurement division of the hospital, Mrs. Eunice Swam said the constitution of the Procurement Planning Committee was in line with the relevant acts governing procurement. Members of the Committee include the Chief Medical Director, Heads of Finance and Accounts, Works and Engineering, Procurement Division, Legal Unit, Panning and Statistics Unit or their representative.
