The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital is to benefit from a Federal Government special intervention grant that would upgrade facilities and enhance the standard of healthcare in some selected tertiary hospitals in the country.

Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Bissallah Ahmed Ekele who made this known during his maiden meeting with staff of the hospital, said UATH is now one of the seven tertiary hospitals in the country that have been penciled down for the grant.

With the grant, Prof. Ekele said the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital would be better positioned for enhanced healthcare delivery.

The Chief Medical Director said since his assumption of office the management had taken steps to address some areas of challenge starting with the Accident and Emergency Unit.

He said the “turn-around maintenance train” had since moved to other units and that as funds become available other departments would also have their needs attended to.
