President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has approved the re-appointment of Dr. Peter Alabi as Chief Medical Director of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada for “a second and final term of four years.” The re-appointment which took effect from February 10, 2012 followed the expiration of his first term of four years In a letter dated February 8, 2012 conveying President Goodluck Jonathan approval.
The Minister of Health, Professor Christian Onyebuchi Chukwu charged the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Alabi, to regard the re-appointment as an opportunity to improve on his performance in the past four years. He noted with satisfaction the progress recorded so far in the hospital and charged the CMD not to rest on his oars.
Dr. Peter Alabi, a graduate of the University of Jos and Consultant Neurologist, is a fellow of the Medical College of Physicans of Nigeria. He was at different times senior lecturer at the department of Medicine, Bayero University, Kano and that of the University of Jos. Dr. Alabi was first appointed as Chief Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in February, 2008.
